‘Johnnie’ Johnson was the RAF official top fighter pilot with a score of 38 planes shot down during the war. He flew in the Battle of Britain, the Dieppe Raid and during the D-Day build up. In the last year of the war he flew with a Canadian fighter-bomber formation.
